OneLegacy's Tissue Operations team members work with more than 215 hospitals, seven county coroners, and hundreds of funeral homes throughout the region to recover tissues from the recently deceased. As a result, people live longer and more productive lives because of tissue transplants and others can see through the gift of transplanted corneas.
The Tissue Operations department includes several teams working cooperatively to support the donation process:
|Donation Development Coordinators||These coordinators maintain close relationships with hospitals to ensure that the donation process works effectively.|
|Family Care Coordinators||Specialists at OneLegacy's state-of-the-art communications center contact families of the recently deceased to present the opportunity to donate corneas and tissue.|
|Family Care Specialists||Trained in bereavement counseling, these employees support potential donor families at the hospital and sensitively present the opportunity to donate both organs and tissue.|
|Tissue Recovery Technicians||Dozens of highly trained specialists surgically recover tissues in accordance with the donor's or donor family's authorization.|
